What's the maximum amount of text a QR code can hold?

Standard QR codes can hold up to around 4,296 alphanumeric characters, though codes with that much data become very dense and require a larger printed size or a closer-range scan to read reliably. Shorter content (like a URL) produces a simpler, easier-to-scan code.

Does the QR code expire or stop working?

No. A QR code just encodes the exact text or URL you gave it; it doesn't call any external service and never expires. If it points to a URL, the code keeps working as long as that URL stays valid.

Why won't my QR code scan?

The most common causes are printing it too small, encoding too much text (making the pattern too dense), or low contrast between the code and its background. Try increasing the size or shortening the content.
